About the position

Mueller Water Products is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our team in Decatur, Illinois. This role is pivotal in collaborating with representatives from the Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering departments, as well as Production staff, to ensure the accuracy of product data, including routings and standard costs. The Industrial Engineer will be responsible for various projects aimed at enhancing manufacturing operations, which may include increasing output, improving product quality, and reducing manufacturing costs, all while maintaining or enhancing operator safety. Key responsibilities include the creation of routings, implementing product data changes, and processing these changes through the Product Data Management (PDM) system, specifically Windchill. The role also involves cost calculations, implementing ergonomic and safety improvements, increasing labor efficiencies, supporting cost-saving initiatives, and documenting manufacturing and other business processes. This position requires a blend of technical skills and the ability to work collaboratively across different levels of the organization, ensuring that all engineering and production goals are met efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering departments to ensure accuracy of product data.
  • Create routings and implement product data changes through the PDM system (Windchill).
  • Perform cost calculations and implement ergonomic and safety improvements.
  • Increase labor efficiencies and support cost savings initiatives.
  • Document manufacturing and other business processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 2 years of progressive work-related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work well with hourly and salaried personnel.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities in both office and manufacturing floor environments.
