The Industrial Engineer position within the Department of Defense involves conducting comprehensive studies and preparing technical reports and analytical products that focus on the materials, skills, and manufacturing processes essential for the production of critical weapons systems. The role requires a deep analysis of various system components, leading to systematic assessments of the manufacturing technology and production management systems utilized in their manufacture. The engineer will present and support findings derived from manufacturing engineering studies to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Services, Defense Agencies, and the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) during inter-agency meetings. In addition to analytical tasks, the position entails developing graphics, presentations, and drafting scripts for briefings and speeches intended for use by DoD representatives at various levels, including agency, department, and congressional levels. The Industrial Engineer will provide expertise to DoD acquisition executives regarding the necessary skills, facilities, equipment, processes, methods, materials, and technologies required for the production and maintenance of a diverse range of defense products. Furthermore, the engineer will advise on procedural and technical aspects of federal acquisition requirements, particularly concerning manufacturing and industrial capability concerns.
