Industrial Engineer

About the position

The Industrial Engineer position at the Department of Defense involves participating in the study, design, and planning of integrated systems for a DLA Distribution Site. The role includes providing technical consultation to site leadership, advising on best practices, and ensuring efficient workflows to meet customer demands. The engineer will also facilitate training for supervisors and managers on documenting work methods and establishing performance metrics.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the study, design, and planning of integrated systems of people, materials, and equipment.
• Serve as a technical consultant to Distribution Site Leadership on industrial engineering aspects.
• Provide advisory services to maintain a safe, orderly, and clean work environment.
• Implement best industry practices to improve processes and ensure smooth workflows.
• Leverage methods to integrate quality into improvements and work processes.
• Train supervisors and managers on documenting work methods and establishing expectations.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in professional engineering from an accredited program.
• One year of specialized experience related to industrial engineering principles and practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Nice-to-haves

• Professional registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
