About the position

To provide necessary support for the successful launch of new Stellantis programs and general improvements, following Mobis' standards and objectives. The Industrial Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates internal and external processes in the industrial plant by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves internal and external material flow methods.
  • Analyzes and plans workforce and utilization, floor space, and material flow.
  • Design layout of equipment and operator workspace.
  • Consults with part suppliers and/or vendors to engineer and develop material handling equipment, storage solutions, and packaging and evaluate/tests the product to ensure specifications and meet quality standards.
  • Time study analysis through simulation of material flow throughout the plant.
  • Calculation of operator staffing requirements.
  • Calculation of fleets and management of returnable packaging.
  • Confers with management and other staff regarding materials processes to support and facilitate overall plant efficiency.
  • Continually update PFEP for engineering changes and material planning.
  • Performs other and/or special assignments as delegated.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering (preferred), or other Engineering degree is required.
  • 1-3 years experience in the following: (preferred, but not all required)
  • Continuous improvement activities and knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Plant floor capacity planning based on time study analysis techniques.
  • Experience in floor space analysis and material planning.
  • Experience working with suppliers/fabricators on the engineering and design of material handling equipment.
  • Experience engineering racking and/or dunnage (returnable packaging) based on part specifications and OEM standards.
  • Automotive parts assembly experience with 1-3 years experience in the assembly of modular component systems (JIT/JIS) preferred.
  • Knowledge of principles and experience in warehouse management based on methodologies such as FIFO and Kanban systems.
  • Technical expertise and skill in designing and optimizing material flow processes.
  • Knowledge of proper ergonomics and safety standards in the automotive industry is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication for effective reporting to management, customers, and suppliers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • MS Office and AutoCAD are a must; SAP is preferred.
