We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to join our metal stamping and welding manufacturing plant located in Holland, MI. This role is pivotal in enhancing our manufacturing processes and ensuring that we maintain our position at the forefront of industry trends and technologies. As an Industrial Engineer, you will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, management teams, and the plant manager to establish and maintain work standards, optimize manufacturing processes, and contribute to cost reduction initiatives. In this position, you will be responsible for establishing work standards through accepted time and motion techniques, maintaining the work measurement system, and preparing cost estimates for new products or engineering changes as assigned by the Engineering Manager. You will also be tasked with justifying the value of product costs to customers and conducting constant analysis of methods and manufacturing processes for improvement, simplification, and cost reduction, utilizing Kaizen principles. Your role will involve initiating new and revising existing plant layouts, auditing current standards for changes and improvements, and ensuring a fair and equitable work measurement program. You will instruct manufacturing management and hourly employees in the application of industrial engineering programs and investigate methods changes, layout revisions, and cost reduction recommendations. Additionally, you will gather, compile, and analyze data on manufacturing operations, participate in safety involvement teams, and maintain efficient and safe work practices in coordination with the Human Relations and Manufacturing Engineering Departments. Responsibilities

  • Establish work standards through accepted time and motion techniques and maintain the work measurement system.
  • Estimate standards and prepare cost estimates on new products or engineering changes as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
  • Justify the value of product cost to customer.
  • Conduct constant analysis of methods and manufacturing processes for improvement, simplification, revision, cost reduction, and utilizing Kaizen.
  • Initiate new and revise existing plant layouts.
  • Audit current standards for changes and improvements in manufacturing processes and ensure a fair and equitable work measurement program.
  • Initiate new information and maintain current data in both the process routings and bills of material reports.
  • Audit both as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
  • Instruct manufacturing management and hourly employees in the application of industrial engineering programs.
  • Investigate methods change, layout revision, and cost reduction recommendations.
  • Develop and initiate means of measuring indirect labor and other non-repetitive work.
  • Investigate and evaluate designated manufacturing problems, determine most suitable courses of action to remedy conditions, and make recommendations to the Engineering Manager.
  • Gather, compile, and analyze data and information on manufacturing operations and conduct special studies and projects as directed by Engineering Manager.
  • Participate in safety involvement teams and be constantly aware of safety considerations in all activities.
  • Study, institute and maintain efficient and safe work practices, procedures, facilities; coordinating with the Human Relations Department and Manufacturing Engineering Department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Engineering Degree.
  • Three (3) years in methods, standards and manufacturing processes, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Strong MODAPTS experience desired.
  • Python programming experience desired.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including Macros.
  • Experience in Material Flow and Kanban.
  • Familiarity with MES or another system that tracks proficiency.
