About the position

The Industrial Engineer at Avery Dennison plays a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing processes and ensuring safety within the organization. This position involves optimizing labor and material flow, designing efficient layouts, and managing various engineering projects to improve productivity and quality. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new systems and processes, while also addressing production and quality issues as they arise.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety as the most important value in the organization through training and process improvement.
  • Optimize direct and indirect manufacturing labor and in-plant material flow using industrial engineering methods.
  • Design and implement optimal station layouts that support operators.
  • Analyze demand forecasts to estimate labor requirements.
  • Partner with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to develop and execute projects related to the Identifications Solutions Digital Journey.
  • Install technical systems and processes for incoming and outgoing distribution.
  • Manage special projects including supplier relationships and production performance management.
  • Set project schedules by monitoring progress and coordinating activities.
  • Attend cross-divisional meetings to report project and site progress updates.
  • Document standard processes and procedures for implementation and training.
  • Initiate and support new equipment and process upgrades to minimize scrap and improve quality.
  • Provide support to manufacturing to resolve production and quality issues.
  • Design control systems for production planning to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Reduce product and process variation using Six Sigma/statistical tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Industrial) or 5+ years of experience in an engineering function in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Working knowledge of designing and implementing Warehouse Management Systems.
  • Experience in designing warehouse automation solutions.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2D for facility layout planning.
  • Experience in troubleshooting equipment and process issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years capital project management experience.
  • Working experience in Oracle E-Business Suite R12.
  • Working experience in ProShip.
  • High-energy, self-directed, self-starter.
  • Ability to execute multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work comfortably in a dynamic, fast-paced, and matrixed organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional groups.
