About the position

As an Industrial Engineer at Design Systems, Inc., you will play a crucial role in enhancing our manufacturing processes and material handling systems. With a focus on optimizing warehouse space and improving efficiency, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative solutions that align with lean manufacturing practices. Your expertise in material systems and planning will be essential in analyzing PFEP (Plan for Every Part) data to ensure that our operations run smoothly and effectively. In this position, you will be tasked with creating detailed layouts for material storage areas and workstations using 2D AutoCAD. This will involve not only the design aspect but also the analysis of data related to material handling processes. You will need to collaborate with various teams to achieve buy-off on your concepts and layouts, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned with the proposed changes. Additionally, you will oversee the implementation of these processes and provide ongoing support to the plant to ensure that the new systems are functioning as intended. Your role will also require you to develop facilities requirements that support our operational goals. This includes assessing current layouts and making recommendations for improvements that will enhance productivity and reduce waste. Your ability to analyze data and make informed decisions will be critical in driving our continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop material handling processes, related layouts, and labor requirements.
  • Develop material storage area layouts and perform related data analysis.
  • Create 2D AutoCAD layouts to optimize storage space and workstation requirements.
  • Achieve buy-off on concepts and layouts through follow-up and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop facilities requirements to support operational goals.
  • Oversee implementation of new processes and provide plant support.

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of industrial/manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Knowledgeable in material systems and material planning.
  • Experience analyzing PFEP data.
  • Knowledge of warehouse space optimization strategies.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices.
  • Proficient in 2D AutoCAD; knowledge of Microsoft Access is preferred.
