By collaborating closely with customers, Air Squared designs customized solutions tailored to meet specific needs. The company is currently pursuing advancements in compressors used in auxiliary air systems for fully electric trucks and buses, with a newly developed liquid cooled scroll compressor technology that significantly enhances pressure capabilities for oil-free compressors. The Product Engineer I will be responsible for taking existing products that face challenges related to reliability, cost, manufacturability, quality, or performance limitations and further developing these products to meet specific standards. This role involves creating new processes to enhance product quality and reliability, overseeing production to ensure compliance with specifications and safety regulations, and ensuring efficient utilization of materials and personnel during production. The engineer will also be tasked with testing finished products for quality assurance and recommending necessary changes to specifications. Additionally, the role includes consulting with procurement to identify cost-effective manufacturing procedures and materials, employing various engineering disciplines to solve product issues, and performing limited project management tasks. The position requires the ability to regularly lift 20 lbs. of raw materials or machine parts, with or without accommodation, and may involve other assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Take existing products facing reliability, cost, manufacturability, quality, or performance limitations and further develop the process to meet specific standards.
  • Create new processes to support the quality and reliability of the product.
  • Oversee production and ensure that products conform to specifications and safety regulations.
  • Ensure production procedures efficiently utilize materials and personnel.
  • Test finished products for quality purposes and recommend changes to specifications as necessary.
  • Consult with procurement to determine cost-effective manufacturing procedures and materials.
  • Employ a wide range of engineering disciplines to problem-solve product issues.
  • Perform limited project management tasks.
  • Regularly lift 20 lbs. of raw materials or machine parts with or without accommodation.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (required)
  • 2 years of experience in rotating mechanical equipment (preferred)
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software (required)
  • Experience in SolidWorks PDM (preferred)
  • Experience with FEA and CFD (preferred)
  • Experience with GD&T (required)
  • Experience with Tolerance Stack up Analysis (required)
  • Experience with an ERP software, preferably Global Shop.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM (preferred)
