About the position

The Industrial Engineer position at Abbott focuses on optimizing personnel, processes, and equipment within the Operations of the Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit. The role involves applying Lean Sigma tools to enhance manufacturing layouts, improve operational performance, and ensure quality and cost-effectiveness in production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize the utilization of personnel, processes, and equipment within Operations.
  • Apply Lean Sigma tools for future manufacturing layouts.
  • Develop process flows and conduct value stream mapping.
  • Perform time studies and line balancing to reduce waste.
  • Update and develop standard work procedures.
  • Analyze headcount versus capacity models.
  • Incorporate 14 Step lean and MOS into facility infrastructure.
  • Improve quality, cost, safety, and delivery performance using lean fundamentals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred) or equivalent technical experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification to coach and mentor Green Belt teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in project management and mathematical modeling.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles, Six Sigma, and other improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI.
  • Familiarity with overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) data management and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Experience with financial budgets and standards.
  • High degree of technical expertise and familiarity with manufacturing processes.
