About the position

In this position, you will work closely with capital project teams to assess potential savings across all functional areas involved in projects. This will require a thorough analysis of operations, workflows, and production needs to pinpoint opportunities for waste reduction and process enhancement. You will also gain exposure to multiple technology platforms, allowing you to focus on system improvements that benefit the entire supply chain. A key aspect of your role will be to drive kaizen activities, fostering a culture of continuous improvement in standard work practices, optimized changeovers, and the flow of materials and information. To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a strong foundation in engineering principles, along with a proven track record in manufacturing or operations environments. Your ability to lead teams and manage projects effectively will be essential as you work to implement innovative solutions that align with 3M's commitment to excellence and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership on assigned division-level projects to develop proficiency, establish methods, practices, and concepts that drive optimization and efficiency of operations.
  • Work with capital project teams to provide an overview of potential savings from all functional areas involved with any project.
  • Analyze operations, workflows, and production needs of processes to identify potential improvement and waste reduction opportunities.
  • Drive kaizen activities across various areas to promote continuous improvement in standard work, optimized changeovers, and material and information flow.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering and/or Operations Management discipline (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Five (5) years of manufacturing, process and/or industrial engineering role in a private, public, government, or military environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industrial Engineering degree.
  • Continuous Improvement certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, organizational skills, process control and statistical knowledge.
  • Previous experience working in manufacturing or operations environments is preferred.
