About the position

Ceco Door, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Milan, Tennessee. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing organization that is committed to innovation and efficiency. As an Industrial Engineer, you will play a crucial role in studying current processes and collaborating with on-site teams to enhance functionality, increase productivity, ensure safety, reduce waste, and optimize investments by employing LEAN concepts. Your expertise will be vital in troubleshooting, researching, evaluating, and recommending strategic plans, cost-saving initiatives, and system improvements that align with our operational goals. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing standardized work practices and coaching team members on Lean principles. You will continually seek to improve processes and cost efficiencies related to labor and material costs. Additionally, you will oversee the design, concept, and purchasing of new machinery and tooling areas, while also recommending design changes in existing product lines to promote cost savings and efficiencies. Your ability to improve plant layouts will be essential in maximizing capacity and output, ensuring that manufacturing is conducted in the most economical way with minimal capital expenditure. You will assist in preparing capital budgets and participate in fostering a safe and harmonious working environment. Compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate policies, as well as adherence to the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct, will be a key aspect of your responsibilities. You will also be involved in various projects and assignments as needed, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Study current processes and collaborate with on-site teams to improve processes and functionality.
  • Increase productivity, ensure safety, reduce waste, and optimize investments while employing LEAN concepts.
  • Troubleshoot, research, evaluate and recommend strategic plans, cost-saving initiatives, new processes and system improvements.
  • Implement standardized work and coach team members on Lean principles.
  • Continually improve processes and cost efficiencies for labor and material costs.
  • Oversee the design, concept and purchasing of new machinery, equipment and tooling areas.
  • Recommend design changes in existing product lines to promote cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Improve plant layouts to enhance flow and maximize capacity and output.
  • Design, develop and champion for manufacturing to be done in the most economical way with the least capital expenditure.
  • Assist with the preparation of capital budgets.
  • Participate in a safe and harmonious working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate policies, regulations, and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Degree required.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience leading/participating in LEAN Transformation (i.e. Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Kaizen, etc.) required.
  • Six Sigma certification desired; Black Belt certification a plus.
  • Solid experience in going to the GEMBA to collect facts.
  • Familiar with quality systems, packaging, distribution, manufacturing, welding, supply chain, tooling and machinery design.
  • Previous experience in designing manufacturing/warehouse solutions.
  • Ability to hold others accountable to ensure project deliverables.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize projects under tight time deadlines.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
