About the position

The Industrial Engineer position at Actalent involves a comprehensive understanding and execution of lean manufacturing concepts, including methodologies such as 5S, Kaizen, Andon, Heijunka, Genchi Genbutsu, JIT, KPI, RC Analysis, PDCA, and Muda. The role requires the individual to learn the fundamental elements of applicable Value Stream Production and Support Roles while adhering to all company policies and procedures. The engineer will collaborate with colleagues to conduct Workplace Organization/5S audits, implementing corrective actions as necessary. In this role, the engineer will perform time studies to develop standard work and lead waste reduction initiatives through Look & See and Gembas. They will be responsible for assembling and fabricating part presentation racks, setting up tooling shadow boards, and leading kaizen events under the guidance of the Process Improvement Manager. Conducting Waste Walks to identify continuous improvement activities is essential, as is organizing activities such as kaizen events to implement these improvements. The engineer will actively promote and facilitate Continuous Improvement activities within the department, seeking and evaluating process improvements on the floor to enhance departmental success in key metrics such as safety, OAE, scrap, and individual employee performance. Regular reporting of improvement activities and performance tracking for validation is required, along with an understanding of the Athens Policy Deployment Process. The engineer will also prepare purchase information for departmental management review to identify necessary materials, software, and resources for effective Continuous Improvement implementation. Additionally, developing and coaching employees on fundamentals for better line performance is a key responsibility. The engineer will conduct all OrganizationOS, Workplace Organization, Gembas, and audits as scheduled, supporting and coordinating the completion of action items to comply with OrganizationOS standards. A willingness to obtain a Green Belt certification is also required.
