About the position

The Industrial Engineer at Flex is responsible for enhancing productivity through effective management of workers, business organization methods, and technology. This role involves solving organizational and production-related problems efficiently, contributing to the growth of the company by optimizing processes and workflows in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides process time estimation to the quote team.
  • Simulates process, materials, and manufacturing workflow using tools like REFA, MOST, and WITNESS.
  • Coordinates process planning and setup during New Product Introduction (NPI) with respect to takt, cycle time, and direct labor requirements.
  • Reviews results during prototyping and trial runs, providing feedback to NPI and sales teams.
  • Examines staff utilization, facility layout, and operational data to define efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities.
  • Confers with management and engineering staff to implement plans and recommendations.
  • Develops management systems for cost reviews, financial planning, and job evaluation.
  • Designs or improves systems for the physical distribution of goods and services.
  • Manages initiatives to increase throughput, reduce costs, and improve performance in Lean, Automation, and Six Sigma projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as an industrial or process engineer in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for floor layout design and optimization.
  • Experience with capacity analysis, time studies, and labor cost reduction.
  • Comfortable communicating with and presenting to internal and external customer audiences.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies, including leading Kaizens and other lean events.
