About the position

The Industrial Engineer position at thyssenkrupp Supply Chain Services NA, Inc. in Greenville, South Carolina, is a full-time, permanent role focused on establishing labor standards and resolving questions related to job utilization and performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for estimating labor standards for specific products and assisting the engineering department management in evaluating capital equipment requests. This role also involves conducting studies related to work methods and establishing a format for the development of standard data. Key accountabilities include establishing labor standards through time studies and predetermined time systems, reviewing and auditing performance against these standards, and utilizing worksampling techniques to address operator utilization and performance issues. The engineer will prepare detailed layouts of plant facilities to optimize utilization and product flow, estimate labor standards for new or revised products, and assist management in evaluating capital equipment requests. Additionally, the role requires improving efficiency across all manufacturing processes and delivering quality engineering production solutions in response to operational needs. The Industrial Engineer will also be involved in planning, coordinating, and controlling production processes, analyzing and resolving problems as part of the manufacturing production crew, and providing technical expertise to resolve processing issues. The position includes project management responsibilities for non-standard customer orders, from initial quotation through to shipping, ensuring all aspects such as manufacturing review, capability, material availability, and inspection points are addressed. The engineer will suggest and drive changes in working conditions and equipment usage to enhance overall production efficiency and actively participate in the Lean Program, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Establish labor standards and review performance against these standards.
  • Conduct time studies using conventional stopwatch techniques or predetermined time systems.
  • Prepare detailed layouts of plant facilities to optimize utilization and product flow.
  • Estimate labor standards for new or revised products.
  • Assist management in evaluating capital equipment requests.
  • Improve efficiency for all manufacturing processes.
  • Deliver quality engineering production solutions in response to manufacturing and operational needs.
  • Plan, determine, coordinate, and control production processes.
  • Analyze and resolve problems as part of the manufacturing production crew.
  • Provide technical expertise and coaching to resolve processing issues.
  • Examine products to validate conformance to specifications and machine adjustments.
  • Manage non-standard customer orders from quotation to shipping, including manufacturing review and inspection points.
  • Suggest and drive changes in working environment conditions and equipment usage to increase production efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and actively participate in the Lean Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in factory design, layout planning, and process optimization.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and sustainable practices.
