About the position

The Industrial Engineer position is a full-time role focused on evaluating and improving plant performance across various critical areas, including safety, quality, production output, and operating costs. This hands-on position requires the individual to engage in research, conduct experiments, and gather data within a production environment while leading action teams. The successful candidate will develop proficiency in identifying inefficiencies and will be responsible for presenting findings and justifying recommendations in a data-driven manner to all levels of leadership, thereby driving improvements within the organization. In this role, there is an opportunity to study complex production processes and recommend enhancements utilizing the Boise Improvement Cycle. The position offers exposure to multiple departments, allowing the individual to gain a broad and comprehensive understanding of the overall business within a plant environment. Areas of involvement will include, but are not limited to, safety, manufacturing processes and products, supervision, human resources, process improvement, engineering, finance, and special projects. The role may also include other duties as assigned, providing a dynamic work experience. Candidates will be expected to work collaboratively with diverse teams and adapt to a flexible schedule, ensuring that they can meet the demands of a continuous manufacturing operation. This position is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within a fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall success of the plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and improve plant performance in safety, quality, production output, and operating costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a STEM-related field.
  • 0-4 years of experience in a related job function.
  • Ability to understand mathematical calculations and concepts.
  • Proficient computer skills in various applications.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Comfortable working in a plant environment with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Nice-to-haves

  • Continuous manufacturing operation experience.
  • Knowledge of wood products.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement tools and methodologies.
  • Experience in facilitation, troubleshooting, and process controls.
