About the position

The Industrial Engineer at Martin Sprocket & Gear will design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes. This role focuses on optimizing human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics, material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination, contributing to the company's commitment to excellence in customer service and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering specifications, customer requirements, and related information to ascertain appropriate manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Conduct research that tests or analyzes equipment, components, or systems' feasibility, design, operation, or performance.
  • Support manufacturing operations using lean enterprise tools and methods to address bottlenecks, maximize product reliability, eliminate waste and reduce costs.
  • Establish and review cost-saving methods and the effects of product design changes.
  • Plan and establish the sequence of operations to produce parts and promote efficient utilization.
  • Develop or test models of alternate designs or processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or the necessity of modification.
  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency using drafting tools and software.
  • Investigate equipment and system failures to diagnose faulty operation and recommend design modifications.
  • Communicate openly and work collaboratively with all departments and operational support functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or similar field.
  • 2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment with production processes & costs, applying lean enterprise tools, methods, and statistical process control.
  • Mechanical aptitude or technical inclination.
  • Ability to read and interpret part prints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for customer service.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-management with the drive to succeed and achieve goals.
  • Independent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Energetic and positive attitude with a willingness to grow skill set.
