About the position

Saab's Surveillance U.S. division in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a resourceful and skilled Operations Project Engineer to lead medium to large scale projects within Operations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting Manufacturing Operations by collaborating with key stakeholders to understand the scope and impact of various projects. This involves developing and executing a detailed technical solution and plan that aligns with the company's operational goals. The Operations Project Engineer will be responsible for developing a Capital Expenditure plan across multiple sites, ensuring that all projects are executed efficiently and effectively. In addition to project planning, the role requires the development of sound technical solutions related to factory layout, cycle time assessment, and facility integration. The engineer will work closely with subcontractors to ensure the on-time and quality delivery of services, providing safety and quality leadership throughout the project lifecycle. This includes monitoring processes and related documentation to maintain high standards of safety and quality. Regular reporting of project status and performance data to both the project owner and team members is essential to keep all stakeholders informed and engaged. Effective leadership is a key component of this role, as the Operations Project Engineer will need to facilitate smooth operations and address any challenges that arise during the project. Identifying, managing, and documenting project risks will also be a critical responsibility, ensuring that potential issues are addressed proactively to minimize impact on project timelines and outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead medium to large scale projects within Operations.
  • Support Manufacturing Operations by collaborating with key stakeholders to understand project scope and impact.
  • Develop and execute a detailed technical solution and plan.
  • Develop Capital Expenditure plan across multiple sites.
  • Create sound technical solutions regarding factory layout, cycle time assessment, and facility integration.
  • Work with subcontractors to ensure on-time and quality delivery of services.
  • Provide safety and quality leadership on projects, monitoring processes and documentation.
  • Report project status and performance data to owner and team members.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership to facilitate smooth project operations.
  • Identify, manage, and document project risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial or mechanical engineering, Technology Management, or related discipline is required.
  • 8+ years of related professional experience.
  • Extensive experience with lean manufacturing and six sigma methodologies.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Solid Works is required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
