About the position

The Industrial Engineer at Tesla will play a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing processes through continuous improvement initiatives. This position involves collaborating with various engineering and production teams to identify constraints, optimize equipment effectiveness, and ensure that production line designs align with the factory's overall vision. The role requires a strong analytical mindset to support data-driven decision-making and improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy a framework of continuous improvement utilizing lean principles
  • Work with manufacturing engineering and production teams to identify production constraints
  • Collaborate with production engineering teams to determine overall equipment effectiveness and associated improvement strategies
  • Perform value-stream analysis through the use of simulations
  • Work with external teams designing production lines for the factory to ensure that their layouts align with the overall plan and vision for the factory
  • Support decision making on process layout through the use of data.

Requirements

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience as part of a project team prioritizing multiple continuous improvement projects
  • Experience doing the detailed analysis necessary to make data driven decisions on process layout design, production line design or warehouse design
  • Able to gain buy in from a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Able to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with factories that require clean rooms and dry rooms is a plus
  • Experience with MOS/MES systems is a plus
  • Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
  • 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
