About the position

The Industrial Engineer position at the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services involves designing, developing, testing, and evaluating integrated systems for managing industrial production processes. The role focuses on optimizing human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics, material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination to enhance manufacturing efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering specifications, customer requirements, and related information to ascertain appropriate manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Conduct research that tests or analyzes equipment, components, or systems' feasibility, design, operation, or performance.
  • Support manufacturing operations using lean enterprise tools and methods to address bottlenecks, maximize product reliability, eliminate waste and reduce costs.
  • Establish and review cost-saving methods and the effects of product design changes.
  • Plan and establish the sequence of operations to produce parts and promote efficient utilization.
  • Develop or test models of alternate designs or processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new applications, or the necessity of modification.
  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency using drafting tools and software.
  • Investigate equipment and system failures to diagnose faulty operation and recommend design modifications.
  • Communicate openly and work collaboratively with all departments and operational support functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing processes and systems analysis.
  • Proficiency in lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CAD software for drafting and design.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and tools.
