About the position

The Group Craft Construction Manager (CM) at Sundt will oversee and lead the construction craft force on various projects across the United States. This role requires a deep understanding of construction processes, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing craft personnel effectively. The CM will be responsible for recruiting, training, and retaining craft workers, ensuring quality assurance, resource management, and safety compliance while collaborating with project managers to meet project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist craft recruiters in the recruitment process and develop strategies to enhance craft recruitment.
  • Manage craft workforce engagement, training, and development to increase retention.
  • Assist in identifying training gaps and developing training modules for the craft workforce.
  • Enhance Sundt's 'Core Craft' program and improve participation.
  • Establish requirements for craft tool kits and communicate these with the craft and talent acquisition.
  • Increase enrollment in the Industrial Apprenticeship Program and the number of NCCER certified craft workers.
  • Collaborate with project managers to understand project scope and resource requirements.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure work meets industry standards.
  • Efficiently allocate craft personnel based on skills and project requirements.
  • Promote and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire a team of construction craft workers.

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of experience in a leadership role within the construction industry.
  • Ability to develop regional craft compensation and travel package recommendations based on market data.
  • Familiarity with managing craft involvement in apprenticeship programs and NCCER training curriculum.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction trades, processes, materials, and techniques.
  • Proven experience in leading small and large groups of craft in projects over $200M in size.
  • Technology skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, P6, InEight, and LaborChart.
  • Thorough knowledge of key industrial construction trades including rigging, structural steel erection, and welding.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with safety-sensitive roles in construction environments.
  • Familiarity with various construction management software.
