About the position

The Industrial Hygienist Intern position at Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America is designed for students pursuing a degree in Industrial Hygiene or related fields. This full-time paid summer internship offers practical experience in identifying and assessing workplace hazards, developing control strategies, and promoting health and safety in a manufacturing environment. Interns will gain invaluable skills and industry knowledge while working alongside a diverse team in a highly regarded program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting workplace assessments to identify and evaluate potential physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazards.
• Support the development and implementation of control measures and strategies to minimize or eliminate workplace hazards.
• Assist in conducting air sampling, noise monitoring, ventilation assessments, and other industrial hygiene testing as needed.
• Participate in ergonomic evaluations to identify and recommend strategies for improving workplace ergonomics and reducing musculoskeletal injuries.
• Assist in the analysis and interpretation of monitoring and testing data, and help prepare reports and recommendations based on the findings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry best practices.
• Assist in the development and delivery of training programs on industrial hygiene topics for employees.
• Support incident investigations related to occupational health and hygiene, including data collection and analysis.
• Stay up-to-date with current occupational health and safety regulations and industry trends, and assist in implementing necessary updates.
• Contribute to the development and promotion of a positive health and safety culture through communication, training, and engagement initiatives.

Requirements

• Completion of at least two years of full-time enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Occupational Health or related field.
• Must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student at an accredited four-year college or university.
• Basic knowledge of industrial hygiene principles, regulations, and practices.
• Familiarity with hazard identification and assessment techniques, exposure monitoring, and control strategies.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to write and communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
• Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
