About the position

The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic position at Owens Corning is a critical role within a Fiberglass manufacturing facility located in Waxahachie, Texas. This position is designed for a senior craft maintenance mechanic or millwright who will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of machinery and mechanical equipment. The equipment includes motors, conveyor systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, production machines, pumps, material handling equipment, and blending/mixing systems. The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to perform precision maintenance tasks such as alignment, balancing, and machine setup. In this role, the mechanic will be expected to perform preventative maintenance tasks using the CMS system (SAP) and complete work orders in a timely manner while adhering to the highest quality standards. Daily reporting of all work performed is essential, including effective shift pass downs and electronic entries. The mechanic will also be responsible for maintaining a complete personal tool inventory necessary for job functions and ensuring a safe and clean working environment at all times. Additionally, the position involves ordering and generating parts requests to maintain adequate inventory organization and accurate stock status. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of technical training and/or five-plus years of proven related maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of both education and experience. A Department of Labor Journeyman Millwright certification is a plus. The position requires the ability to work 12-hour shifts, including overtime and weekends/holidays as scheduled. Safety and adherence to company policies and guidelines are paramount in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic issues on all plant equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks using CMS system (SAP).
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner to the highest quality standards.
  • Daily reporting of all work performed - effective shift pass downs and electronic entries.
  • Perform precision maintenance tasks such as alignment, balancing, machine setup, etc.
  • Maintain complete personal tool inventory necessary to perform job functions.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with company safety and GMP policies/guidelines.
  • Order/generate parts request and help to maintain adequate inventory organization and help maintain accurate stock status.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment at all times.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment literacy test (Ramsay).
  • Minimum of two years of technical training and/or five-plus years of proven related maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of both education and experience preferred.
  • Department of Labor Journeyman Millwright certification a plus.
  • Must be able to complete forklift and man lift certifications.
  • Be able to work 12-hour shifts, overtime, and weekends/holidays as scheduled.
