About the position

The Industrial Maintenance Technician position at Michael Foods, Inc. is responsible for the maintenance and repair of production equipment in a food processing plant. This role is crucial for ensuring the continuous operation of machinery, particularly in the egg processing sector, to maintain production standards and food safety. The technician will work on various equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and assist in new installations, contributing to the overall efficiency of the plant.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical repairs to all production-related equipment to ensure continuous operation and meet production needs.
• Repair pasteurizer carts, make necessary welds, and replace worn parts to maintain production standards.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment as scheduled to keep the line running efficiently and minimize repair costs.
• Perform mechanical repairs on breaking machines, washers, loaders, conveyors, centrifuges, augers, and shell driers to meet production requirements.
• Assist in new equipment and electrical installations, including running conduit for timely start-up.
• Perform building maintenance, including repairs to pumps, motors, gear boxes, and bearings, and conduct preventative maintenance to reduce repair costs.
• Inform the Maintenance Lead of any problems and daily activities.
• Maintain regular and consistent attendance and interact respectfully with a diverse group of people.
• Effectively communicate the status of issues and projects with management, vendors, peers, and production personnel.
• Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is upheld.
• Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical background with 2-3 years of related experience.
• Food production experience preferred.
• Ability to weld stainless steel or a strong desire to learn.
