About the position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning of machinery within the facility, focusing on preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance production efficiency. This role involves conducting inspections, performing repairs, and maintaining records to support the operational integrity of production equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regularly scheduled inspections of facility equipment to prevent major maintenance occurrences.
  • Walk through the plant to ensure best practices and industry standards are being followed in lubrication, alignment, safety guards, etc. for all machinery.
  • Work closely with production to assure that production's operations run at maximum efficiency and quality, with a minimum of downtime.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of equipment.
  • Understand basic hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical principles and theory of operation; read and understand prints pertaining to them.
  • Use checklist to ensure all items are inspected during scheduled inspections.
  • Maintain up-to-date records.
  • Monitor and maintain daily, weekly, monthly preventative maintenance as required on production equipment, as well as building maintenance.
  • Perform and record repairs made to equipment.
  • Maintain all production, support, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Understand/interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot PLC (Programmable Logic Controls) and work with live and low/high voltage electrical systems.
  • Make checks on all machines, robots, and auxiliary equipment in production for safe and efficient operation.
  • Work with controls, drives, and servos on mechanical equipment.
  • Report or fix any potential problems that may arise.
  • Organize and keep inventory of spare equipment and notify Plant Manager when replacements are necessary.
  • Keep shop and work areas clean.

Requirements

  • 3 years of industrial mechanic experience
  • 3 years of hydraulics experience
  • Ability to read and understand schematics
  • Driver's License (Preferred)
  • Mechanically inclined with attention to detail
