About the position

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions, a business of Element Solutions Inc, is seeking a dedicated leader to join our team in overseeing the Smelting Department. This role is pivotal in managing the workforce responsible for processing solder reclaim, dross, and scrap materials. The successful candidate will work closely with the Smelting Department supervisor to ensure effective control and direction of operations while upholding safety, quality, and production standards. The position requires a proactive approach to optimizing inventory levels and achieving departmental objectives, contributing to our commitment to excellence in the electronics industry. In this role, you will be responsible for various key functions including workforce management, where you will oversee vacation schedules, overtime, and the timecard system, stepping in for the Smelting Supervisor as needed. You will also handle reporting and recordkeeping by entering data into JDE, managing purchase order corrections, and maintaining controlled documents. Accurate inventory management is crucial, and you will perform cycle counts and handle physical inventories to ensure precise inventory transactions. Communication with the purchasing department is another critical aspect of this position, as you will provide necessary documentation for orders and adjust schedules to meet deadlines. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to enforce and promote safety rules throughout the department. Additionally, maintaining quality standards and engaging in continuous improvement efforts will be part of your responsibilities. You may also be required to substitute for off-shift supervisors as necessary, ensuring seamless operations at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee vacation schedules, overtime, and timecard system for the workforce.
  • Fill in for Smelting Supervisor as needed.
  • Enter data into JDE and manage PO corrections with purchasing.
  • Maintain Controlled Documents and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
  • Perform cycle counts and handle physical inventories to ensure accurate inventory transactions.
  • Provide documentation for orders and adjust schedules to meet deadlines in communication with purchasing.
  • Enforce and promote safety rules throughout the department.
  • Maintain quality standards and engage in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Substitute for off-shift supervisors as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two to five years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, Lotus Notes, and JDE Systems.
  • Ability to balance timely operation of the department while ensuring all required reports are completed and procedures/policies followed.
  • Must be able to resolve conflict decisively and diplomatically; ensure two-way communications.
  • Complete understanding of Company Safety rules and regulations and ability to identify unsafe acts/conditions.
  • Thorough understanding of Company quality standards as it pertains to products overseen.

Nice-to-haves
