About the position

Farnsworth Group is seeking an Industrial Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Colorado Springs or Denver, CO. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about engineering and want to contribute to meaningful projects in advanced manufacturing and technology markets. As an Industrial Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for multi-project management, focusing on full mechanical design, which includes HVAC/Exhaust systems, cleanroom design, plumbing, and process utility systems. You will work closely with a collaborative team of engineers, architects, surveyors, and scientists, all dedicated to making a positive impact in our communities and for our clients. In this role, you will prepare accurate mechanical HVAC system construction documents, drawings, and specifications for bidding and submittal review. You will also perform construction administration services, ensuring that projects are executed according to the established design and specifications. Your responsibilities will include preparing preliminary schematics and final designs, conducting calculations, selecting equipment, and laying out systems. You will maintain project design budgets and schedules while pursuing quality and excellence in your work. Additionally, you will actively engage in code research and application, interfacing with other disciplines, clients, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution. Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate Mechanical HVAC system construction documents, drawings, and specifications for bidding and submittal review.
  • Perform construction administration services.
  • Prepare preliminary schematics and final designs, calculations, equipment selection, and layout.
  • Maintain project design budgets and schedules while pursuing quality.
  • Actively engage in and assume responsibility for code research and application.
  • Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in mechanical design, particularly in HVAC and plumbing systems.
  • Strong understanding of building codes and standards related to mechanical systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients and team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cleanroom design and advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or working towards it.
