Farnsworth Group is seeking an Industrial Mechanical Engineer to join our team in either the Denver or Colorado Springs, CO offices. In this role, you will take on multi-project responsibilities for full mechanical design, which includes HVAC/Exhaust systems, cleanroom design, plumbing, and process utility systems. You will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical HVAC system construction documents, drawings, and specifications for bidding and submittal review. Additionally, you will perform construction administration services, prepare preliminary schematics and final designs, conduct calculations, and select and layout equipment. Maintaining project design budgets and schedules while ensuring quality is a key aspect of this role. You will actively engage in code research and application, interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors, and coordinate with other production staff. This position reports to an Engineering Manager who will provide mentoring and training opportunities to help you grow in your career. Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate Mechanical HVAC system construction documents, drawings, and specifications for bidding and submittal review.
  • Perform construction administration services.
  • Prepare preliminary schematics and final designs, calculations, equipment selection, and layout.
  • Maintain project design budgets and schedules while pursuing quality.
  • Actively engage in and assume responsibility for code research and application.
  • Interface with other disciplines, clients, and contractors.
  • Coordinate with other production staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
  • 5-15 years of experience in technically complex system design.
  • PE license preferred, but not required.
  • Strong working knowledge of ICC model codes (Fire, Building, Mechanical, Plumbing).
  • Experience with creating and interpreting P&IDs.
  • Design experience relative to medium/large commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to contribute to several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to client sites in support of projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with high pressure steam and condensate systems preferred.
  • Experience with abatement exhaust systems preferred.
  • Experience with large hydronic systems preferred.
