About the position

The Industrial Medicine Paramedic will be responsible for providing advanced medical care in an industrial steel mill environment. This role involves responding to medical emergencies, performing critical assessments, and delivering Advanced Life Support (ALS) to employees in need. The paramedic will collaborate with safety teams to ensure workplace health and safety while maintaining patient care documentation and adhering to established protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide and direct fast, efficient Advanced Life Support to the ill and injured using advanced techniques and equipment.
• Recognize and understand medical emergencies and make reasonable differential diagnoses.
• Perform critical physical examinations and recognize common cardiac dysrhythmias.
• Anticipate pharmacological treatment for critically ill and injured patients.
• Address medical and emotional needs of victims of acute illness or injury.
• File standardized reports of patient information and care for hospital use.
• Maintain effective communication with the physician on duty and follow protocols when necessary.
• Transport ill and injured individuals to appropriate medical facilities.
• Operate emergency vehicles safely under all conditions.
• Conduct routine and advanced patient assessments in an infirmary setting.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as EKGs and glucose monitoring as directed.
• Provide patient education on self-care and follow-up treatment plans.
• Respond to emergency situations within the infirmary and initiate life-saving procedures as needed.
• Coordinate and assist with scheduled health screenings and preventative care assessments.
• Ensure compliance with established protocols and regulatory requirements during medical procedures.
• Maintain knowledge in emergency paramedicine through continuing education and training.
• Comply with all Pafford Policies & Procedures and state and federal regulations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or advanced degree preferred.
• Unrestricted Paramedic Licensure/Certification required.
• CPR for the Health Care Provider certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
• Unrestricted state driver's license required.
• Certification in ICS 100 & 200; 300 & 400 preferred but not required.
• Certification in FEMA IS-800 preferred.
• NIMS 700 certification required.
• Completion of CEVO or EVOC upon date of hire required.
• Proficient knowledge of street systems and emergency medical equipment used in ALS.

Nice-to-haves

• Certification in ICS 300 & 400 preferred.
• Certification in FEMA IS-800 preferred.
