About the position
CAL INC is seeking an experienced Industrial Sandblaster/Painter to join our team in Vacaville, CA. This position is available for both full-time and part-time work, with a pay range of $36 to $37 per hour, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial painting and sandblasting, specifically with steel structures such as tanks and bridges. The role requires a strong understanding of blasting equipment setup and operation, as well as the ability to apply final coatings effectively. Candidates must reside in Northern California, as projects are primarily located in the East Bay, Central, and Northern parts of the state. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, but may include weekends if required by the client. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and demonstrate a solid background in coating and blasting. Responsibilities include preparing surfaces for sandblasting, mixing abrasives, coordinating with supervisors to ensure a steady workflow, and maintaining equipment. Safety is paramount, and candidates must adhere to all safety requirements and utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Additionally, candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and pass a respirator fit test and drug test. The base pay is competitive, with potential increases for prevailing wage jobs.
Responsibilities
- Preparing surfaces: Selecting areas to be cleaned, preparing surfaces for sandblasting, and masking off protected areas
- Mixing abrasives: Adding abrasive material to blast pots and mixing abrasives
- Coordination with the Supervisor to ensure a steady flow of needed parts to the production floor
- Maintenance/care of equipment including spray guns, booth, and supplies stock levels
- Preparing surfaces: Selecting areas to be cleaned, preparing surfaces for sandblasting, and masking off protected areas
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in industrial painting and sandblasting
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing
