About the position

Farnsworth Group is seeking an Industrial/Semiconductor/Advanced Manufacturing Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team. This role can be based out of one of our offices in Austin, TX, Frisco, TX, Denver, CO, Phoenix, AZ, or St. Louis, MO. As an Electrical Controls Engineer, you will take on multi-project responsibilities that include electrical and control system design, particularly focusing on cleanroom design and process utility systems. You will be involved in projects within advanced manufacturing and technology markets, contributing to the design and implementation of innovative solutions that meet our clients' needs. In this position, you will prepare complete and accurate Electrical and Control System construction drawings and specifications. Your responsibilities will include developing preliminary schematics, calculations, equipment selection, and layouts, as well as detailed control system schematics and loop diagrams. You will also be tasked with developing control system architecture and network drawings, along with hardware specifications. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with process and mechanical engineers to create Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Managing project design budgets, work breakdown structures, schedules, and execution plans will be essential, with a focus on maintaining the highest quality standards. You will actively engage in code research and application, interfacing with other disciplines, clients, and contractors to deliver effective automation and control system solutions. Additionally, you will develop and document functional control descriptions based on control requirements and coordinate with production staff to ensure timely delivery of construction documents and deliverables. The ability to organize and execute responsibilities for multiple projects simultaneously is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete and accurate Electrical and Control System construction drawings and specifications

  • Ability to simultaneously organize and successfully execute responsibilities for multiple projects

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Process, or Architectural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer License (PE) strongly preferred
  • 8+ years of relative Electrical and Control System Design experience, including schematics, control panel layouts, and power distribution
  • Ability to work independently and lead others
  • Experience in Advanced Manufacturing, Semiconductor, Clean Room, Water Treatment, or Life Sciences and general manufacturing a plus
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in designing automation solutions with PLC and DCS platforms
  • Application knowledge of electrical, building, and energy codes is desired
  • Application knowledge of controller programming languages and HMI configuration desired
  • Strong verbal and writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong background with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and REVIT
  • Ability to travel
