About the position

The Industrial Services Light Manufacturing Fabricator position at Fastenal involves contributing to the success of the department by efficiently producing finished products for customers. The role includes tasks such as cutting chain, cable, and threaded rod, as well as light assembly jobs, picking, and packaging products. A strong emphasis is placed on customer service and the ability to learn and operate various mechanical equipment in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting and manufacturing overhead lifting chain slings, hydraulic and industrial hose assemblies, and custom wire cable assemblies
• Cutting chain, cable, and threaded rod
• Using calibrated equipment to measure specific jobs (micrometer, caliper, tape measure, etc.)
• Using saws, chain cutters, and crimpers to complete specific jobs
• Packaging light manufacturing jobs for shipment to branch locations
• Following all International Standardization Organization (ISO) quality procedures
• Communicating with Fastenal branches and vendors

Requirements

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency
• Mechanically inclined
• Highly motivated, self-directed and customer service oriented
• Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule
• Ability to lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 100lbs
• Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)

Nice-to-haves

• Prior warehouse and forklift experience
