About the position

As an Industrial Engineer I at McLane, you will play a crucial role in supporting various initiatives and network-wide projects specifically for the McLane Grocery distribution centers. Your primary focus will be on cost reduction and productivity improvements, which are essential for maintaining McLane's position as a leader in supply chain services. You will be responsible for implementing and supporting capital and process improvement initiatives within the facility, region, or network, and will also provide support to DC Operations as needed. This role requires a proactive approach, as you will be expected to perform operational and transportation analysis, continuous process improvements, and updates to engineered labor standards (ELS). Additionally, you will be involved in warehouse management system configuration and facility and capacity planning. Successful candidates will be self-starters with strong communication skills, capable of interacting with multiple cross-functional levels of the organization. You will have the opportunity to assess and optimize processes and equipment within the facility and region to support business needs. Your responsibilities will also include developing efficient layouts, workstations, and material handling systems for both new and existing facilities. Responsibilities

  • Support multiple divisions operations and special projects.
  • Align Standard Operating Procedures with Corporate Engineering.
  • Partner with division operations to reinforce consistent process execution and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assess and optimize processes and equipment within the facility and region to support business needs.
  • Implement and support McLane's warehouse, labor, execution and slotting optimization systems.
  • Perform adhoc data analysis on key business functions.
  • Develop efficient layouts, workstations, and material handling systems for new and existing facilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering preferred, other applicable degrees with accompanying experience will be considered.
  • Experience with Manhattan WMOS and LMS or JDA/Red Prairie WMS and LMS (preferred).
  • Experience within distribution facility layout, racking layout and design (preferred).
  • Understanding of distribution center operations to include receiving, selection, replenishment, routing and dispatch.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to advocate for and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Be able to function in a fast-paced office and warehouse environment in a professional manner.
  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Project.
  • Understanding of Statistical Analysis and Operations Research a plus.

Nice-to-haves
