About the position

At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling - to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today's mission and stay ahead of tomorrow's threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. Raytheon is seeking an Industrial Systems Engineer who drives business and process improvements across multiple manufacturing and transactional processes by designing, improving, and implementing integrated systems of people, materials, and equipment. The individual draws upon the specialized knowledge and skill in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences, together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems. The Industrial Engineer leads initiatives which incorporate best practices in areas such as six sigma, lean manufacturing, and theory of constraints to eliminate process variation and production waste, reduce lead-times, improve process flow, evaluate available capacity, and create gains in efficiencies, with the ability to cost translate results into tangible benefits related to KPI's. This role involves reviewing existing operations, documenting product and information flow in current operations using tools including value stream maps and process flow diagrams; developing recommendations for process improvements (including automation); and leading the implementation of the recommendations. The engineer will also lead factory layout initiatives for optimal process flow and material levels, including kanban/replenishment levels, and material presentation. In addition, the engineer will lead Lean events and mentor cross-functional teams on the use of Lean principles & tools, identify needs for manufacturing simulation models, and lead data collection efforts to support model creation. The role requires applying statistical methods and performing mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards, ensuring Human Factors Engineering disciplines are utilized in production setup, configuration, and in new product designs. The engineer will drive improved manufacturability and testability of products by analyzing historical performance and making recommendations to Design teams, and participate in new proposals by coordinating data collection based on existing standards and historical data.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews existing operations, documenting product and information flow in current operations using tools including value stream maps and process flow diagrams; develops recommendations for process improvements (including automation); and leads the implementation of the recommendations.
