About the position

The Industry Career Coach for U.S. Government, Economics, and Consulting at George Washington University is responsible for directing and managing career development activities for students and alumni. This role focuses on providing personalized career coaching, developing industry-specific resources, and facilitating connections with employers in various sectors, including public policy and consulting. The position aims to create an inclusive and innovative environment that supports the career aspirations of students and alumni.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group career coaching sessions to educate students and alumni on industry cluster areas and develop career plans.
• Partner with career exploration coaches to provide information on industry-specific exploration and core skills.
• Develop, deliver, and evaluate workshops and educational programming on advanced career management skills.
• Maintain expertise in assigned industry cluster areas and communicate this knowledge to students and alumni.
• Collaborate with employer development staff to enhance partnerships with university departments and identify needs for industry-specific programming.
• Advise and support student clubs and organizations related to the industry cluster.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master's degree in a relevant area of study.
• Working knowledge of state and federal agency hiring practices and federal resume composition.
• Experience in career coaching and counseling, career development, and educational program development.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with case interviews for management and economic consulting.
• Experience working with college students and knowledge of coaching theories.
• Strong communication, presentation, writing, and project management skills.
• Experience developing partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
