About the position

The Inertial Tracking Engineer will focus on developing advanced inertial tracking algorithms for fire control product lines. This role involves working with various algorithm development techniques, including Kalman filtering, multi-sensor fusion, and machine learning, to enhance tracking capabilities in complex environments. The engineer will also be responsible for creating models and simulations, evaluating system performance, and ensuring compliance with system requirements while collaborating with a diverse team of experts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop inertial tracking algorithms using techniques such as Kalman filtering and multi-sensor fusion.
  • Create complex models and simulations to evaluate system performance in various scenarios.
  • Verify system and subsystem level requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Present technical material to internal leadership and external customers.
  • Collaborate with a team of subject matter experts from various academic backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar.
  • 5-8 years of experience in developing and analyzing algorithms related to inertial tracking and navigation.
  • 5-8 years of experience in programming languages such as C, Matlab, and Python.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with linear algebra software packages.
  • Strong programming skills for C development in a Linux environment.
  • Experience deploying algorithms that meet real-time performance requirements.
  • Experience with embedded systems for complex algorithm deployment.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence/machine learning techniques for algorithm development.
  • Familiarity with electro-optical/infrared detection technology and principles of radiometry.
  • Expertise in navigation and inertial tracking algorithms.
  • Proficiency in math related to Kalman filtering, optimal state estimation, and multivariate calculus.
