About the position

The Infant Feeding Technician plays a crucial role in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric departments at St. John's Hospital. This full-time position requires the technician to support daily operations, ensuring optimal safety for all patients receiving prepared milk products. The technician will be responsible for preparing feedings according to specific recipes, utilizing aseptic techniques to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety. Once prepared, the feedings will be delivered directly to the patient rooms, ensuring that the nutritional needs of the infants are met promptly and efficiently. The role is integral to the care provided in the NICU, where the health and safety of newborns are paramount. The technician will work closely with healthcare professionals to monitor and assess the feeding needs of infants, ensuring that all protocols are followed meticulously. Responsibilities

  • Support daily operations within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric departments.
  • Prepare feedings according to specific recipes using aseptic techniques.
  • Deliver prepared feedings to patient rooms.
  • Monitor and assess the feeding needs of infants in the NICU.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and food handling techniques.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development related to nutrition and food safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Currently enrolled for a minimum of 2 years in a nutrition and/or health science focused program is preferred.
  • 1 year of healthcare, clinical, nutrition, dietetics or pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • 1 year experience and knowledge of safe food handling techniques is preferred.
  • 1 year experience and knowledge of newborn and pediatric nutrition is preferred.
  • Any accredited food handler certification is required or to be obtained within 120 days of hire.
  • Certified Dietetic Technician from the American of Dietetics and Nutrition is preferred.
