About the position

The Infant Teacher position at Jewish Council for Youth Services (JCYS) involves providing early childhood education and care to children in a nurturing environment. The role focuses on planning and executing developmentally appropriate programs while maintaining a warm and respectful attitude towards all children. The teacher will actively supervise children in various settings and communicate regularly with parents about classroom activities and incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing developmentally appropriate programs for assigned classes in accordance with the philosophies of JCYS.
  • Maintain a warm, caring, and respectful attitude toward all children at the center.
  • Provide constant supervision and active involvement with children in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, buses, and offsite trips.
  • Send daily classroom updates to parents via email.
  • Inform the Director of parent messages, complaints, concerns, accidents, illnesses, and other classroom incidents.
  • Maintain professional relationships with parents and other staff members.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of information and take necessary precautions to protect it.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to the knowledge of other staff members.
  • Work in partnership with teachers and other staff members.
  • Abide by the JCYS Employee Handbook and all agency policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children.
  • Must meet DCFS standards for experience/education.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing positive relationships with children and parents.
  • Ability to physically interact with children, including stooping, bending, and sitting on the floor.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in early childhood education programs.
  • Knowledge of child development principles.
