About the position

The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our fast-paced childcare department at The Corner School, our on-site childcare center located at TASB's Corporate Headquarters in northwest Austin. As an Assistant Teacher, you will assist our lead teacher in the infant/toddler classroom. Our team of teachers passionately embrace their work to make a real difference in the lives of children. We offer low child-to-teacher ratios and provide a beautiful outdoor play scape for our little ones to enjoy and experience nature. In this role, you will always supervise and monitor groups of children, both indoors and outdoors year-round to ensure their health and safety. You will assist the classroom teacher in planning and carrying out classroom activities, ensuring that each child receives individual attention. Providing positive guidance to help children develop the ability to be self-disciplined is a key aspect of this position. You will also share the responsibility for the arrangement and maintenance of the room and equipment. Under the supervision of the Lead Teacher, you will assist in developing curriculum and daily lesson plans that are suitable for the child's age, stage, and personal interest. You will also assist in supervising teacher aides, volunteers, and substitutes assigned to the same classroom. In the absence of the Lead Teacher, you will assume responsibility of the classroom in a substitute teaching capacity. This role requires you to communicate regularly with parents through daily greetings and written comments on children's daily charts and annual parent conferences. The TASB culture encourages employees to grow and become their best selves both professionally and personally through a variety of innovative and collaborative development opportunities. We believe that our diverse team is our strength, and we are committed to providing a supportive environment for all employees.
