About the position

The Infant Toddler Teacher position at United Way Miami is a part-time role focused on providing a safe and nurturing environment for children aged 0 to 36 months. The teacher will encourage the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of infants and toddlers, while also collaborating with other staff to ensure high-quality early care and education for low-income families in the Miami Gardens area.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily observations of children and create daily experience plans that build on children's prior experiences.
• Encourage and model appropriate behavior and expectations among children.
• Capitalize on opportunities to help children build vocabulary through follow-up questions.
• Collaborate with others in the program to make daily decisions on materials, activities, and environments that support children's learning.
• Observe and document each child's health, behavior, growth, and development.
• Supervise children, ensuring adherence to safety and health rules for the classroom.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and accessible environment for children.
• Complete appropriate documentation to report incidents and accidents.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 45 DCF hours
• Flexibility and understanding of diversity and inclusion concepts
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Sensitivity to the needs of others.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Visible Thinking and Multiple Intelligence concepts
• Knowledge of Dual Language and Inclusion strategies
• Familiarity with Early Literacy strategies and Reflective Supervision.
