About the position

The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for leading a comprehensive hospital-wide program aimed at preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases. This role ensures compliance with state and federal regulations related to infection control practices and collaborates with various healthcare teams and community agencies to address infectious disease concerns.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement infection prevention and control programs across the hospital and clinics.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies regarding infection prevention practices.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams, long-term care facilities, and community agencies to address infectious disease issues.
• Report and investigate infection incidents and communicable disease outbreaks.
• Utilize nationally recognized standards of practice in infection prevention and control.

Requirements

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing, public health, microbiology, epidemiology, or a related health field.
• BLS certification required.
• Must obtain CIC certification within 2 years of hire if not currently certified.
• Experience or education in Infection Prevention and Control preferred.
• Ability to learn and navigate computer systems, including electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to collect and analyze data to identify trends or areas of concern.
• Ability to create and present data visualizations effectively.
• Ability to create, decipher, and apply data definitions accurately for consistent reporting of infection prevention data.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
