About the position

The Infection Prevention Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting operational improvement projects across clinical and non-clinical areas within the healthcare organization. This position focuses on analyzing and enhancing existing processes to improve safety, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. The specialist is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections, as well as educating healthcare providers, patients, and families about infection control practices. The role also involves developing policies and procedures that align with regulatory standards to ensure rigorous infection control measures are in place.

Responsibilities

• Support operational improvement projects throughout the organization.
• Analyze and measure the effectiveness of existing processes.
• Collect and analyze process and quality data to recommend operational practices.
• Utilize infection prevention information and research to mitigate risks.
• Serve as an internal consultant on infection prevention practices.
• Facilitate quality improvement activities to enhance safety and outcomes.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with team members and external agencies.
• Perform ongoing surveillance to identify and mitigate infection risks.
• Engage with team and leadership in a professional manner.
• Develop and deliver infection prevention education to staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, medical technology, or related field.
• 2 years of relevant clinical or infection prevention experience.
• Participation in improvement initiatives.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's Degree or equivalent experience in Public Health.
• 3 years of relevant experience in infection prevention.
• Certification from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) preferred.
