About the position

The Infection Preventionist at Masonicare Corp is responsible for overseeing the infection control program within the facility. This part-time role involves collaboration with the Executive Director and ALSA Director to ensure effective infection prevention and control measures are implemented, monitored, and reported. The position requires a proactive approach to maintaining health standards and educating staff on infection control practices.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the infection prevention and control program.
  • Provide support to the team to fill in on any open shifts.
  • Maintain a system for preventing, identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all individuals in the facility.
  • Establish routine surveillance for infections based on national standards and facility assessments.
  • Make regular rounds to investigate potential infections and maintain records of each infection noted.
  • Collect statistics and prepare reports for the infection control committee and other relevant departments.
  • Implement infection control measures and provide ongoing education to staff on infection control practices.
  • Follow policies and procedures to address outbreak occurrences within the Memory Care Setting.
  • Keep accurate records of infections and trends, presenting reports at quarterly medical staff meetings.
  • Provide guidance to healthcare providers on infection control practices and standards.
  • Address various aspects of resident health, including hygiene and immunizations.
  • Monitor antibiotic usage and resistance in collaboration with Pharmacy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Provide oversight of infection control and prevention on all three shifts, at least monthly.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited LPN or RN program and associated licensure.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Three to five years of management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Long-term care experience required.
  • Experience in clinical information systems preferred.
  • Experience in project planning and implementation preferred.
  • RN or LPN license in State of Connecticut.
  • ICN certification required; IP certification and wound certification preferred.
