About the position

This position serves as an IT project coordinator for information technology projects within the Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB). The project analyst functions as a PMO resource to DTMB managers, supervisors, and staff involved in application maintenance and development. The role encompasses the development, maintenance, and oversight of project schedules that are both logic and resource-driven. A critical aspect of this position is maintaining the change control process, which includes establishing a structured approach to manage and track changes in project scope. The IT project coordinator is responsible for identifying project issues and risks, escalating them to senior management as appropriate. Monitoring project performance is essential, as is reporting status and facilitating the creation of action plans to ensure adherence to project schedules. The coordinator will interact with various teams as needed to develop and maintain project schedules and related documentation. Additionally, the role involves assisting in information gathering, budget analysis, project estimating, and procurement, as well as providing support on special projects. A key responsibility is promoting compliance with the State Unified Information Technology Environment (SUITE). This position is located in Lansing, MI at the Romney Building and may offer a hybrid (remote/office) work schedule. Candidates approved for a hybrid schedule must complete their work within Michigan. The position may also be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500, with a portion paid upon hiring and the remainder after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period of 12 months. This bonus does not apply to current state employees.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an IT project coordinator for information technology projects.

  • Develop, maintain, and oversee project schedules that are logic and resource-driven.
  • Maintain the change control process, including managing and tracking changes in project scope.
  • Identify project issues and risks, escalating them to senior management as appropriate.
  • Monitor project performance and report status to stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the creation of action plans to promote adherence to project schedules.
  • Interact with various teams to develop and maintain project schedules and related documents.
  • Assist in information gathering, budget analysis, project estimating, and procurement.
  • Provide assistance on special projects and promote compliance with SUITE.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management, or mathematics.
  • Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in relevant fields and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, project coordinator, or IT technician may substitute for the education requirement.
  • Completion of high school and four years of experience in relevant IT roles may also substitute for the education requirement.
