About the position

The Senior Information Assurance and Security Engineer (ISSE) position at Peraton is a critical role that requires advanced expertise in building Information Assurance into systems, particularly focusing on the NiFi software and hardware deployed in operational environments. The successful candidate will act as a true Security Engineer, going beyond the typical duties of an Information System Security Officer (ISSO). This role involves supporting the development of security architectures and enforcing the design and implementation of trusted relationships among external systems, particularly in securing virtual cloud-based systems. The team member will collaborate closely with project Systems Architects (SAs), Software Engineers (SEs), and software developers to identify and implement appropriate information security functionalities. This ensures a uniform application of agency security policies and enterprise solutions. The candidate will be instrumental in developing and securing the Next Generation NiFi, which will be cloud-based and utilize Docker/Kubernetes running within AWS over the next 1-2 years. The ISSE will guide the team through all security requirements in this new architecture and design, while also evaluating the current software and systems architecture to recommend improvements to its security posture as the organization transitions to the cloud. Additionally, the role requires knowledge and experience with agency processes, procedures, and protocols for deploying and maintaining virtual cloud-based systems, as well as familiarity with AWS, VPC, IAM/MFA, Kubernetes, Docker, and Linux distributions such as CentOS7 and RHEL8.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Senior ISSE on the NiFi project, performing advanced security engineering duties.
• Build Information Assurance into systems deployed in operational environments.
• Support the development of security architectures and enforce trusted relationships among external systems.
• Collaborate with project SAs, SEs, and software developers to implement information security functionalities.
• Guide the team through security requirements for the Next Gen NiFi cloud-based architecture.
• Evaluate current software and systems architecture and recommend improvements to security posture as the organization transitions to the cloud.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI security clearance with current polygraph is required.
• Fourteen (14) years of experience as an ISSE on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Four (4) years of ISSE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
• DoD 8570.01-M compliance with IASAE Level 2 is required.
• CISSP Certification is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes software environment and AWS is preferred.
• Knowledge of agency processes, procedures, and protocols for deploying and maintaining virtual cloud-based systems.
