About the position

The Information Assurance Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems is responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of systems through comprehensive security requirements analysis, design, and validation. This role requires a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, systems engineering, and the ability to lead security work groups while effectively communicating with various stakeholders. The position is critical in supporting the company's mission to enhance defense platforms and ensure the safety of those who serve and protect.

Responsibilities

  • Perform or lead security requirements analysis and definition.
  • Conduct system security design and architecture generation.
  • Execute security trade studies and verification/validation processes with minimal supervision.
  • Lead efforts to categorize vulnerabilities and document recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with program stakeholders, including product owners and developers.
  • Contribute to the achievement of business objectives through security design and implementation.
  • Recognize and incorporate various security designs and lessons learned.
  • Report on relevant cyber systems engineering design and issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Basic understanding of satellite systems and satellite ground systems.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity specifications such as Risk Management Framework (RMF) and STIGs.
  • Proficiency in cybersecurity technology and trends.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active cybersecurity certifications such as ISC2 CISSP.
  • Understanding of Linux systems.
  • Familiarity with DISA STIGs and associated tooling.
  • Experience with DoD security tools like ACAS/Nessus and HBSS/EPO.
