About the position

The Information Assurance & Security Specialist Master position is a critical role based in Washington, DC, offering a hybrid work environment. This full-time position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, along with extensive experience in the field of information assurance and security. The selected candidate will be responsible for determining enterprise information assurance and security standards, developing and implementing these standards and procedures, and coordinating security programs for the organization. The role involves recommending information assurance and security solutions tailored to meet customer requirements, identifying and resolving security violations, and establishing security requirements based on user, policy, regulatory, and resource demands. In this position, the specialist will support customers at the highest levels in the development and implementation of doctrine and policies. The role requires applying expertise to both government and commercial systems, including dedicated special-purpose systems that necessitate specialized security features and procedures. The specialist will perform analysis, design, and development of security features for system architectures, analyze and define security requirements for various computer systems, and design and implement solutions that meet these security requirements. Additionally, the role includes providing integration and implementation of computer system security solutions, performing vulnerability and risk analyses throughout the system development life cycle, and ensuring that all information systems are functional and secure. The position demands a high level of technical knowledge and experience, particularly in developing, maintaining, and enhancing information security policies and requirements. The specialist will also need to demonstrate expertise in troubleshooting complex enterprise-level projects and have a strong understanding of Windows server operating systems, on-premise and cloud security products, and IP networks/security. Hands-on experience with storage management on VMware ESXi and troubleshooting NetApp SAN is also required. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in IT or a related field and relevant security certifications such as CISSP, Security+, or CEH.

Responsibilities

  • Determines enterprise information assurance and security standards.
  • Develops and implements information assurance/security standards and procedures.
  • Coordinates, develops, and evaluates security programs for the organization.
  • Recommends information assurance/security solutions to support customers' requirements.
  • Identifies, reports, and resolves security violations.
  • Establishes and satisfies information assurance and security requirements based on user, policy, regulatory, and resource demands.
  • Supports customers at the highest levels in the development and implementation of doctrine and policies.
  • Applies know-how to government and commercial common user systems, as well as to dedicated special purpose systems requiring specialized security features and procedures.
  • Performs analysis, design, and development of security features for system architectures.
  • Analyzes and defines security requirements for computer systems including mainframes, workstations, and personal computers.
  • Designs, develops, engineers, and implements solutions that meet security requirements.
  • Provides integration and implementation of the computer system security solution.
  • Analyzes general information assurance-related technical problems and provides basic engineering and technical support in solving these problems.
  • Performs vulnerability/risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle.
  • Ensures that all information systems are functional and secure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 16 years of experience in information assurance and security.
  • Expert understanding of Windows server operating systems.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and recommending enhancements to IS policies/requirements.
  • Experience performing vulnerability/risk analyses of computer systems/apps.
  • Experience identifying, reporting, and resolving security violations.
  • Experience in complex Enterprise-level projects.
  • Knowledge of on-premise and cloud security products and IP Networks/Security.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting NetApp SAN.
  • Hands-on experience managing storage on VMware ESXi.
  • Good understanding of server/endpoint operating systems.
  • Windows 2016 AD Enterprise troubleshooting experience.
  • In-depth experience with Disaster Recovery & Avoidance planning.
