About the position

Horizon BCBS is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Office of Information Governance and Privacy. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fields of data privacy, information governance, including AI governance, and compliance while working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support privacy threshold analysis and impact assessments.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and monitoring of privacy and information governance policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Help track regulatory developments related to privacy and information governance laws (e.g., CCPA, HIPAA, NJDPA and emerging AI laws) and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with information governance and privacy policies.
  • Support the management of privacy-related inquiries, complaints and investigations.
  • Conduct research and prepare reports on best practices in privacy and information governance.

Requirements

  • Requires High School Diploma
  • Currently pursuing an advanced degree in Information Technology, Law, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Interest in privacy, compliance, and information governance topics.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Interest in diversity & inclusion, litigation and/or labor and employment law
  • Superior interpersonal, influencing and persuasion skills as well as excellent relationship building skills
  • Ability to multi-task and to navigate relationships and time constraints effectively.
  • Strong orientation to technology and excellent PC skills.(MS Office)
  • Self-directed and motivated
