About the position

The Information Protection Advisor is a contract position focused on providing expert guidance and advice on significant information protection matters. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure compliance with information security policies and strategies, particularly in the context of third-party cyber risk management. The advisor will lead complex projects, conduct security assessments, and provide architectural oversight for enterprise-wide security technology, all while staying updated on emerging industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide counsel and advice to top management on significant Information Protection matters.
  • Undertake complex projects requiring specialized technical knowledge in information security.
  • Make decisions on complex or ambiguous information security issues.
  • Provide architectural oversight and direction for enterprise-wide security technology.
  • Ensure integration of application development with information security policies and strategies.
  • Conduct security reviews of external service providers and outsourcing vendors.
  • Perform ongoing vendor cyber security risk assessments and document risks in Archer GRC.
  • Liaise with key functional teams to perform third-party security reviews and identify risks.
  • Drive stakeholder participation in evaluation of risk and control effectiveness.
  • Maintain expertise on security trends through training, research, and development.

Requirements

  • Expertise in cyber security and NIST standards.
  • Experience in third-party risk management and vendor security assessments.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex technology and business risks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders across the organization.
  • Technical leadership experience in information protection.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Archer GRC for risk documentation and management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to information security.
  • Knowledge of emerging industry standards in information protection.
