About the position

The Division of Technology Services (DTS) is seeking an Information Security Analyst to fill a vacancy in the Security Operations Center (SOC). This position may be filled at various levels, including Analyst I, II, or III, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. If filled as an Analyst III, the candidate will function as a team lead, taking on additional responsibilities and leadership roles within the team. The ideal candidate should be dependable, honest, flexible, knowledgeable, articulate, an independent learner, and a proficient collaborator. This position will report either to the manager of the Security Operations Center or a team lead, ensuring that the team operates effectively and efficiently in safeguarding the state's information systems. This role is a hybrid position, requiring at least two days a week in the office located at the Taylorsville State Office Building, 4315 S 2700 W, Taylorsville, Utah. The position also requires participation in on-call rotations, with the expectation of being available for calls 24/7, although such occurrences are rare. Candidates should be prepared for the dynamic nature of the role, which involves responding to security incidents and collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance the security posture of the organization. The eligibility for telework is determined by agency management and may change at their discretion. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to security incidents in the Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Lead and mentor junior analysts in security operations and incident response.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to enhance the security posture of the organization.
  • Conduct security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement security policies and procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and be available for emergency response as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in information security or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks and best practices.
  • Experience with security monitoring tools and incident response.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are preferred.
  • Experience with cloud security and compliance.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to information security.
