As an Information Security Analyst - Journeyman at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in building robust cyber defense mechanisms using state-of-the-art technologies. In this position, you will be responsible for performing forensic analysis of digital information, gathering and handling evidence, and identifying network intrusion evidence and perpetrators. You will utilize data from various cyber defense tools, such as IDS alerts, firewalls, and network traffic logs, to analyze events within our environments, aiming to mitigate potential threats. Your role will also involve interpreting, analyzing, and reporting all events and anomalies in accordance with established computer network directives, which includes initiating responses and reporting discovered events. You will evaluate, test, recommend, coordinate, monitor, and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and systems, ensuring that they align with cybersecurity standards. Identifying security risks and exposures will be a key part of your responsibilities, as you will determine the causes of security violations and suggest procedures to prevent future incidents. Additionally, you will develop techniques for conducting cybersecurity risk assessments and compliance audits, evaluate hardware and software for security impacts, and investigate security incidents such as intrusions or frauds. As a seasoned professional, you may also coach and provide guidance to less-experienced colleagues and may serve as a team or task lead.

Responsibilities

  • Perform forensic analysis of digital information and gather and handle evidence.
  • Identify network computer intrusion evidence and perpetrators.
  • Use data collected from various cyber defense tools to analyze events and mitigate threats.
  • Interpret, analyze, and report all events and anomalies according to computer network directives.
  • Evaluate, test, recommend, coordinate, monitor, and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Ensure cybersecurity plans, controls, processes, standards, policies, and procedures align with cybersecurity standards.
  • Identify security risks and exposures, determine causes of security violations, and suggest preventive procedures.
  • Develop techniques and procedures for conducting cybersecurity risk assessments and compliance audits.
  • Investigate and resolve security incidents such as intrusions, frauds, attacks, or leaks.
  • Coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.
  • Serve as a team or task lead when necessary.

Requirements

  • Education: BS/BA degree in a relevant field.
  • 3-5+ years of related experience in cybersecurity or information security.
  • Required skills include knowledge of security and information assurance, FISMA controls, and experience in a government environment supporting ATO.
  • Certifications: CISSP is required.
